A flush door sits flush with the wall face, with the frame, leaf and adjacent wall panels reading as one continuous surface. In hotel guest rooms and modern fit-out projects this is the detail that makes an interior look built rather than assembled. Two forms of flush door The first is a concealed leaf. The door is set into the wall build-up, with the leaf, frame and reveal all finished in the same material, so from most angles the door is nearly invisible. Only the shadow line at the edge gives it away. This is common in high-end hotel rooms and executive suites, and it is usually specified for minimal visual impact. The second is a face-fixed flush door, where the leaf face is finished to match the wall panels but the frame remains visible. It is easier to install, costs less, and is used where the door is expected to take more impact. Matching the veneer across the set The detail that decides whether a flush door looks right is not the door, it is the match between leaf, frame, architrave and the surrounding wall panels. Two things are needed for that match: - Veneer from the same cutting batch for leaf, frame and lining, so grain and colour run continuously - Finished dimensions calculated from the actual wall build-up, not nominal wall thickness Send us the wall section or a dimensioned drawing, and we will confirm the finished sizes and the veneer direction before production. Core and construction Concealed leaves typically use an MDF or engineered core with a matching veneer, 30-40 mm thick depending on the frame depth. The leaf is fixed to a frame that is integrated into the wall, usually with a rebated or slimline stop so the leaf closes without a visible stop moulding. For acoustic requirements, an engineered core with a compression seal can reach 32 dB even at 30 mm leaf thickness, which matters in hotel rooms. Where flush doors are used - Hotel guest rooms, especially premium categories and suites - Apartment and villa interiors where the door should disappear into the wall - Meeting rooms and corridors where a minimal, monolithic look is wanted - Wardrobes and concealed access panels integrated with the joinery Order information Flush doors are made to the project opening size and the wall build-up, so the opening schedule and one wall section drawing are normally enough for quotation. Lead time is 30-40 days after approval, longer than standard products because the veneer matching and finishing add steps. In a project where flush doors appear in many rooms, we recommend ordering them in the same production batch to keep the finish consistent across the floor.
