Wooden Door Standards and Compliance

Chinese wooden door standards are referenced in almost every export specification, but they are rarely explained. This page sets out the standards we work to, what each one actually governs, and what documentation you receive with an order. JG/T 122-2000 — the main wooden door standard JG/T 122-2000 is the industry standard for wooden doors and door frames. It covers door leaf construction, frame construction, dimensional tolerances, appearance grade and the mechanical properties that matter in use: hinge strength, lock retention and resistance to repeated opening and closing. When a specification says "JG/T 122-2000 compliant", it is asking for both the leaf and the frame to meet this standard, not only the leaf. Our frames and door panels are built to JG/T 122-2000 as standard, without exception. GB/T 3324-1995 — solid wood door construction GB/T 3324-1995 covers the construction and material requirements for solid wood doors, particularly stile-and-rail and solid timber construction. It defines timber moisture content, joint methods for stile-and-rail frames, and permissible defects. It is the reference for the construction method rather than the finished performance. GB 5296.6-2004 — plywood and composite panels GB 52966-2004 covers plywood and composite wood panels. It matters for engineered core doors, where the core is a cross-laminated or LVL panel rather than solid timber, and defines bonding strength, formaldehyde emission and dimensional stability. EN 1634 and GB 12955 — fire door testing Fire rated wood doors are tested to EN 1634 (European) or GB 12955 (Chinese) standard. Both methods use a furnace test: the door assembly, including frame, hinges, lock and seals, is exposed to flame and measured for insulation and integrity. Ratings are expressed in minutes: 30, 60 or 90. A door being "fire resistant" is not the same as a door being a certified fire door. Only the complete tested assembly carries the rating. This is why we test and ship the assembly as it will be installed. ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 These are the factory management standards covering quality control processes and environmental management respectively. They are audited by third-party certification bodies and are not product standards, but they determine whether production is consistent batch to batch. Documentation supplied with your order - Product specification sheet showing which standard each component complies with - Fire test reports for rated products, per production batch - Material declaration for the timber species and core used - Packing list and loading photos before shipment - Certificates of origin and, on request, third-party inspection reports
